Then, President Biden, the First Lady, and the Secretary of Education visited a local school in Washington, DC to present remarks about how the Biden/Harris Administration's efforts to keep students safe in classrooms, and to highlight some of the announcements made earlier today.
In the evening, President Biden and the First Lady traveled to New York, New York, where they will remain overnight. President Biden departed from the White House South Lawn en route to Joint Base Andrews and traveled on to LaGuardia Airport in New York, New York.

On Saturday, September 11, 2021, President Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden of the United States of America will honor and memorialize the lives lost 20 years ago with travel to sites of the 9/11 attacks in New York City, New York and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

At 12:05 PM EDT, Vice President Harris convened a roundtable discussion with STEM students at Hampton University to discuss the value of HBCUs in training the next generation of STEM professionals as part of the U.S. Department of Education’s National HBCU Week.
