"Securing America’s supply chains is a top priority for President Biden and his Administration. We welcome Samsung’s announcement today that it will build a new semiconductor facility in Texas, helping protect our supply chains, revitalizing our manufacturing base, and creating good jobs right here at home. The Biden-Harris Administration has been working around the clock with Congress, our allies and partners, and the private sector to generate additional semiconductor manufacturing capacity and make sure we never again face shortages. Today’s announcement is the result of sustained work by the administration, including engagement with Samsung and the President’s meeting with President Moon of the Republic of Korea in May where the two leaders announced they would facilitate mutual and complementary investments in semiconductors. More work remains to be done to ensure America remains the most innovative and productive nation on Earth. STATEMENT FROM PRESIDENT JOSEPH ROBINETTE BIDEN, JR. On Unemployment Insurance Claims ~ November 24, 2021
"This morning, we received two pieces of economic news which underscore that our recovery is continuing to progress at a historic pace.
Last year, there were 21 million unemployment insurance claims before the Thanksgiving holiday. Today, there were 2.4 million. This is a historic jobs recovery: 5.6 million jobs created since I took office and an unemployment rate of 4.6% -- two full years earlier than experts predicted was possible. More Americans are getting back to work and more Americans have money in their pockets, thanks to the American Rescue Plan and the vaccination campaign.
And, the U.S. economy grew at a faster rate in the first three quarters of the year than in any year in nearly 40 years. In fact, according to the OECD, the U.S. is the only major economy that has exceeded its pre-pandemic level of gross domestic product.
We have more work to do before our economy is back to normal, including addressing prices increases that hurt Americans’ pocketbooks and undermine gains in wages and disposable income. That’s why yesterday I announced steps my Administration is taking to bring down the cost of gas for American families and my Administration remains laser focused on implementing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which will ease supply chain bottlenecks across the economy. And it’s why it’s so critical that the Senate pass the Build Back Better Act, which, according to leading economists, will cut costs for American families without adding to price pressures. Build Back Better will cut the cost of prescription drugs, health care, child care and housing for tens of millions of middle class families and seniors – while extending critical middle class tax relief that is helping working families make ends meet.
Today’s data reinforce the historic economic progress we are making and the importance of building on that progress in the weeks ahead."

"Ahmaud Arbery’s killing – witnessed by the world on video – is a devastating reminder of how far we have to go in the fight for racial justice in this country. Mr. Arbery should be here today, celebrating the holidays with his mother, Wanda Cooper Jones, and his father, Marcus Arbery. Nothing can bring Mr. Arbery back to his family and to his community, but the verdict ensures that those who committed this horrible crime will be punished.
While the guilty verdicts reflect our justice system doing its job, that alone is not enough. Instead, we must recommit ourselves to building a future of unity and shared strength, where no one fears violence because of the color of their skin. My administration will continue to do the hard work to ensure that equal justice under law is not just a phrase emblazoned in stone above the Supreme Court, but a reality for all Americans."

"Today, the jury rendered its verdicts and the three defendants were found guilty of murdering Ahmaud Arbery. Still, we feel the weight of grief. Ahmaud Arbery should be alive, and nothing can take away the pain that his mother Wanda Cooper-Jones, his father Marcus Arbery, and the entire Arbery family and community feel today. I share in that pain.
These verdicts send an important message, but the fact remains that we still have work to do. The defense counsel chose to set a tone that cast the attendance of ministers at the trial as intimidation and dehumanized a young Black man with racist tropes. The jury arrived at its verdicts despite these tactics.
Ahmaud Arbery was a son. He was a brother. He was a friend. His life had meaning. We will not forget him. We honor him best by continuing the fight for justice.
