WASHINGTON (AP) — "The House Jan. 6 committee will hold its final hearing of the summer the way the series began — vividly making the case that Donald Trump’s lies about a stolen election fueled the grisly U.S. Capitol attack, which he did nothing to stop but instead “gleefully” watched on television at the White House.  

Thursday’s prime-time hearing will dive into the 187 minutes that Trump failed to act on Jan. 6, 2021, despite pleas for help from aides, allies and even his family. The panel intends to show how the defeated president’s attempt to overturn Joe Biden’s election victory has left the United States facing enduring questions about the resiliency of its democracy.

In the morning on Thursday, July 21, 2022, President Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. tested positive for COVID-19 and all travel has been cancelled for at least the next five days.  

This morning, President Biden spoke by phone with Senator Casey, Congressman Cartwright, Wilkes-Barre Mayor Brown, and Scranton Mayor Cognetti to discuss his Safer America Plan and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, as well as express his disappointment that he was unable to travel to Scranton and Wilkes-Barre this afternoon. He also called Congressman Clyburn to wish him a happy birthday and congratulate him on the NAACP Spingarn Medal he received last night.

 

 

 

 

VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA DEVI HARRIS ~ THURSDAY, JULY 21, 2022  

 

At 9:45 AM EDT, Vice President Kamala Devi Harris departs Washington, D.C. en route Charlotte, North Carolina. Vice President Harris will depart from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland and arrive at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, North Carolina on Thursday, July 21, 2022.  

At 11:50 AM EDT, Vice President Harris tours a community computer lab with people benefiting from the Affordable Connectivity Program. This tour happens at the Carole Hoefener Center.

On Thursday, July 21, 2022, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and Secretary Cardona will visit a Detroit Public Schools Community District summer learning program at 10:00 AM ET. The summer learning program is being held at Schulze Academy for Technology and Arts in Detroit, Michigan. The learning program is serving kindergarten through 8th grade students from the school district.  

At 1:15 PM ET, Dr. Biden and Secretary Cardona will arrive at Athens-Ben Epps Airport in Athens, Georgia.  

At 1:45 PM ET, The First Lady and Secretary Cardona will visit a Horizons National summer learning program, held at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. The Horizons National summer learning program is serving students from Barnett Shoals Elementary School.
