WASHINGTON DC - Wednesday, October 2, President Biden joined a call with the G7 to discuss Iran’s unacceptable attack against Israel and to coordinate a response to this attack, including new sanctions. President Biden and the G7 unequivocally condemned Iran’s attack against Israel. President Biden expressed the United States’ full solidarity and support to Israel and its people, and reaffirmed the United States’ ironclad commitment to Israel’s security.
President Biden stated following the call:
"I called a meeting of the G7 today. We're working on a joint statement all of us agree on -- from Japan to France to Germany to -- et cetera. And what we're doing in that regard is we’re making it clear that there are things that have to be done. And it’s -- obviously, Iran has gone way out of -- I mean, is way off board. We're going to -- putting together a joint statement. Hasn't been done yet. It will be done before too long, probably by the time we land. And there's going to be some sanctions imposed on Iran."
Yesterday morning, President Biden convened a meeting with Vice President Harris and their national security team to discuss Iranian plans to imminently launch a significant ballistic missile attack against Israel. They reviewed the status of U.S. preparations to help Israel defend against these attacks and protect U.S. personnel in the region.
Later at The White House, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan joined today’s press briefing by Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre to update The White House Press October 1, 2024. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas participated in the press briefing also.

President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. On Hurricane Helene
"I am deeply saddened by the loss of life and devastation caused by Hurricane Helene across the Southeast. As the storm continues to track north, Vice President Harris and I remain focused on life-saving and life-sustaining response and recovery efforts. I am being regularly briefed by my team on the ongoing response efforts, and my Administration is in constant contact with state and local officials to ensure communities have the support and resources they need. At my direction, FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell is traveling throughout the Southeast to assess the damage alongside other state and local officials.
The road to recovery will be long, but know that my Administration will be with you every step of the way. We’re not going to walk away. We’re not going to give up. As we turn toward recovery efforts, we will make certain that no resource is spared to ensure that families, businesses, schools, hospitals, and entire communities can quickly begin their road to rebuilding. Jill and I are praying for those who lost loved ones from Hurricane Helene, and for those whose homes, businesses, and communities were impacted by this terrible storm."
